KAPURA. . . SLOVAKIA
Dance Meaning: Threshold. East Slovak dialect. Etymologically, related to word Prague, meaning threshold.
Pronunciation: KA-pu-ra
Music: A Od Presova with Hanka Servicka
Choreography: By Jim Gold using traditional steps from Slovakia.
Formation: Open circle.
Meter: 4/4

Measures:
FIRST STEP
Slovak Csardas
Facing ctr, moving to the right, hands free, right hand held high Slovak style.
Csardas step
1 Step to R (ct 1), bring L next to R (ct 2)
step to R (ct 3), bring L next to R (ct 4)
2 Repeat meas. 1 in opposite direction
3-8 Repeat meas, 1-2 3x
SECOND STEP
Csardas into ctr
1 Step into ctr with R (ct 1), step into ctr with L (ct 2)
Step into ctr with R (ct 3), lift L (ct 4)
2 Out of the ctr: Repeat meas. 1 opp ft and opp dir
3-4 Repeat meas. 1-2
5 Repeat meas. 1. When lifting L leg slap L boot (L knee for women) with R hand (on ct 4)
6 Repeat meas. 9 going out of circle. When lifting R leg (on ct 4), slap R boot (or knee) with R hand
7 Step on R (ct 1), slap left boot (ct 2)
step on L (ct 3), slap right boot (ct 4)
8 Step on R foot, clap hands once (ct 1)
bring L foot behind R leg and slap L foot (ct 2)
step on L (ct 3-4)
THIRD STEP
8 Rida steps to right, CCW, hold hands. arms in V position
1 Step on R (ct 1), cross L in front of R (ct 2)
step on R (ct 3), cross L in front of R (ct 4
2 Step on R (ct 1), cross L in front of R (ct 2)
Step on R (ct 3), stamp L next to R no weight(ct 4)
3-4 Repeat meas. 1-2 opp dir and opp ft
Repeat First and Second Step
FOURTH STEP
“Friss” or Fast Slovak Csardas
1-2 Repeat meas. 1-2 of First Step
3-4 Repeat meas. 1-2
5-8 Repeat meas. 5-8 from Second Step
1-4 Repeat meas. 1-4 of Third Step: Rida
5-8 Repeat meas. 1-4 of First Step: Slovak Csardas
Complete 8-step turn to left:
9 Step on R (ct 1), step on L (ct 2)
step on R (ct 3), step on L (ct 4)
10 step on R (ct 1), step on L (ct 2)
step on R (ct 3), step on L (ct 4)
11 Facing ctr: Step to R (ct 1), bring L next to R (ct 2), step to R (ct 3-4),
12 Step on L to left (ct 1-2),
snap R next to L (ct 3-4).
Repeat “friss” pattern three times
