e acolleu-s’ a un óme con que fillou companía;
os que alí albergaron da eigreja se saíron;
Tod’ aquest’ assí foi feito, ca o quis a verdadeira
English translation
The Mother of Jesus Christ
The Mother of Jesus Christ,
Who is a lady of noble doings,
Doesn’t allow that in her house
Thefts and wrongdoings are done
And it’s of a great miracle I will tell you about which
Trustworthy men assured me to be the truth
Performed by Saint Mary of Monserrat,
And told me about what an evil man had done
For showing his evilness.
He was with other people on pilgrimage,
And seeked our shelter with another man to keep him company;
And when night fell,
He robbed the money from his purse,
In order to become richer.
The next morning,
After they had attended mass,
The ones who he seeked shelter in the church left;
But he wasn’t able to leave,
And this was witnessed by many,
Because Saint Mary didn’t want him to,
And she’s next to God in heaven.
Until he regretted what he had done and showed so
And had given back the money he had stolen from the other man,
And had said he had done wrong in front of everyone,
And left feeling ashamed for his wrongdoings.
All of this was done,
Just as the true, merciful, saint and righteous Mother of God wanted,
She who didn’t want disgraceful things and jealousy for poverty to be done in her house.
