La Parida (English)
The mother in childbirth says “I’m dying, I’m dying”
Responds the husband, “Have patience, my wife”
You will give me a son and we will rejoice
At this sign of happiness.
Here comes the new father
Bringing apples and pears in one hand
And in the other hand is a basket full of candles
To shine a light on the whole family
Turn and listen to your husband changing
